The Federal Government has granted approval for an increase in the monthly stipend for Corps Members to Seventy-Seven Thousand Naira (₦77,000), starting from July 2024. Consequently, upon the enactment of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024 following the visit of the Director-General of NYSC to the Chairman, National Salaries Income and Wages Commission on 23rd of August 2024.
The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the person of His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the review of the monthly allowance of corps members from ₦33,00.00 per month to ₦77,000.00 per month with effect from 29th July 2024. The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) in the person of Brigadier General Y.D Ahmed has always maintained that the federal government is youth friendly and therefore, has been optimistic towards the welfare of corps members and would be accorded a prior attention.
The NYSC hereby expresses its profound appreciation to the Director General for being a father who have the interest of his children at heart and for his honorable visit to the Federal government towards giving precedence to the welfare of corps members. This increase in stipend is intended to cater to the rising cost of living and ensure that Corps Members are adequately compensated for their service to the nation.
